If you’re attracted to the Sweet Pea flower, you may feel like you’ve been hitting walls in your life—your business, relationships, career, personal growth. Things may feel like they're just not working out as planned. You may feel like you're hitting dead ends, forcing you to question yourself + your actions. Out of frustration, you may find yourself striking out at yourself (through inner dialogue) or being critical of others (even if just mentally).
You may find yourself getting caught in a poverty mentality, feeling lost or unable to conceptualize how you’ll get from where you are to where you want to be. You may experience lack or scarcity, or doubt that proposed ideas won't pan out (“That won’t work”).
Sweet Pea is the quintessential ‘money’ flower. It helps us pull out of our tunnel vision of how things ‘must be’ and open our minds to limitless possibilities. We get a sense of the abundance of opportunities + myriad ways of doing things.
This essence assists us in recognizing the things that fall in line with our energetic signature or that resonate with us—and which things don’t—so we can feel expanded versus contracted.
Sweet Pea magnifies gentleness, softness, and ease, allowing us to slow down + take a look around, approaching our ‘dead ends’ with complete openness. It reminds us that sometimes we need to let things fall apart so that better combinations and solutions can self-arise from the spaciousness of what's possible—without our effort.
We are able to give ourselves permission to rest and listen to ourselves, regardless of our external situation, so that we can magnetize creative solutions/opportunities. Instead of feeling like we must keep going until every problem is solved, we can stop and wait until the timing feels right, letting things fall into place naturally.
Whenever we’re picking up flowers for a Flowerlounge, I cannot resist piling on another few hundred blossoms. The last time we were in NYC, Simon from our favorite flower market kindly removed the bright pink Sweet Pea flowers from my arms: “I don’t think you want these,” he said, explaining that they had been flown in from Japan at $75/tiny bouquet (!). Simon was right, haha. But that little 5-minute love affair was fun while it lasted.
The Sweet Pea (Lathyrus odoratus), an annual climbing plant, is native to southern Italy and the Aegean Islands. Reportedly, a Sicilian monk sent the first Sweet Pea seeds to England in the 17th century, where they became highly cultivated. No English garden was complete without the lovely colors + unique fragrance of the Sweet Pea, who is affectionately referred to by gardeners as the "Queen of the Annuals."
The flower was immensely popular during the Victorian era, a time known for "the language of flowers," in which the Sweet Pea represented pleasure and gratitude. They are still found in many home gardens + are in high demand in floristry (as my small $75 bundle shows!).
Unlike the edible pea, Sweet Peas are toxic if ingested in large quantities.
Sweet Pea was also used extensively in the study of genetics, after Gregor Mendel’s famous cross-breeding studies. With its ability to self-pollinate + easily observed traits such as color, height, and petal form, the Sweet Pea flower helped many genetic principles to be validated.
"This elixir has helped me to get out of my own way. I have been more patient with myself and others. I've also been brainstorming so many ideas. I've been stuck and closed off and worried about things, especially money, and with Sweet Pea, I just know things are going to be okay. I'm looking at things differently. I see more possibilities now. I even won a giveaway. (Normally I wouldn't have entered because the chances were low, but I went for it and won!) I just feel light, and like the Universe has my back. I'm going to get to where I want to be. And I'm going to have fun getting there." —Stephanie
"I was suffering from hives erupting all over my face, neck and ears, arms and legs causing severe swelling and itching. I tried several herbs, homeopathic tabs, and even over-the-counter antihistamines, but it wasn't related to allergies. I finally had a Body Talk session that revealed it was related to anger and proximity. It's all stemming from my anger and frustration at the common narrative surrounding this stupid plandemic, and how the masses, including my nearest and dearest, believe it without question, and shut down with fear and anger upon hearing a different perspective. I knew I needed Sweet Pea to help me shift my attitude to one of acceptance and compassion, while standing firm in my space and convictions. I have coupled it with Expansive Presence mist and anointing oil, plus meditation and journaling using the pages provided by Katie and Crew. By the end of week one, I was relieved to realize that I had made the shift to observing the pandemic academically instead of reacting viscerally. The constant itching has tapered off and now I only itch absently, instead of compulsively. I hope it goes away completely very soon, and that my poor skin can turn over to its pre-hive freshness. Thanks for this amazing formulation!!!!" —Annalisa Pedraza
