A day before the LOVE Flowerlounge, we bought hundreds of orange roses and handed them out on the street and at Union Square. It was a beautiful practice of love without attachment.
We saw a lot of huge, sweet smiles + some of the comments we heard were:
"It's been YEARS since someone gave me flowers!"
“That’s the nicest thing I’ve seen.”
“For ME?”
“Omg, so sweet ~ this made my day!”
"Can I have one for my friend in the hospital?"
"I can't believe this. We're just college kids!"
"I'm going to pay it forward and give it to someone else!"
“It’s been sooooo long since someone gave me roses!”
"I'll give her my flower and double her love!"
"For real? You're just giving away roses? Amazing! Thank you!"
"Wow, I didn't think people did this kind of thing in the U.S.!" [French couple whose entire impression of NYC + the USA changed forever.]
"Can I just give you a hug?"
"This reminds me of my Mom who used to always give me flowers."
"Bless you!"
"Me dieron rosas! Nunca me han dado una rosa antes! Dos rosas? Tres rosas? Te lo crees?!" ["They gave me roses! No one has ever given me a rose before. Two roses? Three roses? Can you believe it?!"]
It was amazing the sweet connection + intimacy that we felt with perfect strangers, just by sharing love + flowers.
Inspired? Try it some time.
Love + flower petals,
Katie
